Een bedrijf, dat laboratorium-activiteiten conform ISO/IEC 17025:2017 wil uitvoeren, is verplicht ook andere normen in acht te nemen.
De EA en de ILAC zijn uitgevers van zulke aanvullende documenten. De EA (European co-operation for Accreditation) is de Europese koepelorganisatie van alle Europese accreditatie-instellingen. De Nederlandse Raad voor Accreditatie (RvA) en de Belgische Belac zijn lid van de EA.
De ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation) is de wereldwijde vereniging van accreditatie-instellingen, die zich bezighouden met accreditatie van inspectie-instellingen en laboratoria. De EA en de vijf andere accreditatie-instellingen van de overige continenten zoals APAC, IAAC, AFRAC, SADCA en ARAC werken nauw samen met de ILAC.
Regels van de EA, die aanvullend op ISO/IEC 17025:2017 voor beproevings- en kalibratielaboratoria gelden, zijn:

- EA-4/18 : Guidance on the level and frequency of proficiency testing participation
